Long Distance Baby Shower: Favors w/Free Download

2.04.2010

So, we're on to the party favors for the Long Distance Baby Shower. I wanted something that would be relatively inexpensive for me to make and mail. I came up with SNICKER DOODLE cookie mixes.

I recently came into possession of 400 white paper lunch bags, so those were free. These can be made from ingredients you already have on hand and I mailed them in a flat rate priority box so it only cost $15.00 to ship. And these aren't Baby Shower specific, they can be made for any party.

Step 1: Create Mix

For every 4 bags combine the following...

1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 3/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt

- Sift all of these ingredients together and then divide evenly among four plastic party bags. I did this by scooping 1/4 cup amounts into each bag and then repeating until all were filled evenly.

- When filled, fold top of plastic bag over once and once again. Staple shut along top with at least two staples.

Step 2: Print Labels

- Print front side of labels. 4 labels go onto each 8.5x11" sheet of card stock. (click to download)
- Then reload paper and print instructions onto the back of the same paper. It should line up perfectly.
- Use a paper trimmer to cute each label out directly along colored edges of front side.

Step 3: Prep Bags

- Cut tops off of paper bags in paper cutter so that the new height is 8 inches.

- Use Fiskars Threading Water Punch (or any other decorative edge punch) along top edge of paper bag.

- Put a plastic bag of dry mix into each lunch bag.

- Fold over top edge of bag 3 inches. Tuck label underneath and punch two holes along top, making sure to catch the tag in the punches as well. (please excuse the lighting on these photos...it was late at night!)

- Thread ribbon through from back and tie in a double knot.

And when they're done they'll look like this!
