{ The Invitations }
Here are the invites we sent out for the party...
I took the Gru silhouette from the movie poster and created this invite using Photoshop. The Despicable Me font is actually called Las Vegas Jackpot and can be downloaded here.
These are 5x7" and I printed them on our home printer
(that's why there is minimal orange) onto cardstock.
Download a blank copy which you can put your white text onto.

{ the decorations }
Table Runner - I first laid down a plain white table cloth. I snagged this black and grey striped fabric from a local store and used it as a table runner. Throughout the movie Gru wears a scarf exactly like this (as seen below) and it added a nice depth to the table...we are celebrating villians here!
Villian Logo Banner - First up was a banner for above our party table. I used Photoshop to make these icons representing Gru's logo and Vector's logo (as seen below). Print them out, cut out circles and adhere to string for an instant banner! Click here to download printable pdf file.
Moon Poster - Since the moon is a central focus of the movie I got a picture of the moon and had it printed to 36x36" at a local copy store (for around $4) and hung it on the wall. I love how it turned out! Click here to download my file and take it on a jump drive or burned onto a CD to your local copy center to print!
Minion Balloons - I bought standard yellow helium balloons and used a large tipped permanent marker to draw goggles and eyes on them and placed them around different areas where the party would take place. In the hubbub of party time I failed to snap a picture of these, but I think you get the idea! Warning: Don't let your kids touch these balloons after you draw on them, the marker wipes off onto their skin.

My 3 and 5 year old boys are drooling. And upset that they have to wait till DECEMBER to have another birthday. LOVE your ideas! You're amazing.
Spent an hour last night creating this invitation for my little man . . . one day later and I could've had it done by you ;-D

I used Adobe Photoshop. However, if you want to add text to my download and do not have Photoshop you can add it as a picture to a Word document. Then change the settings to layer it behind text and then add white text on top of the image.
WOW WOW WOW thank you for doing all the work! I usually spend hours creating (like you must have) for my kiddos bday parties, but you just made my newly hectic schedule so much easier! Thankyou so much!!!!!
I am over the moon now that I've found this! You did a such a wonderful job and your willingness to share is beyond words! I'm trying to calm down enough to start actually working on something! ;) Can't wait to do this. Thank you, thank you, thank you - a hundred times over!
Thanks for such great ideas. I am planning my daughters 5th birthday party and she just decided on a Despicable Me theme. These ideas are so awesome. Thanks again for sharing :)
Your blog totally saved me! My toddler is obsessed with the first movie and the second movie is coming out on her birthday. Of course we have to do a Despicable Me party and it's been impossible to find decorations. Thank you so much for these great ideas!
Thanks So much! I used to invite in a word document since I am Photoshop Challenged. :) It was super easy to figure out how to lay the text over it, too, by searching my questions in Word's help section.
These are perfect for my little boy's birthday party and I super appreciate that you shared your invite so the rest of us can have use of it. Awesome! Thanks!!!!
I love love love the minion party! I am in the middle of frantically throwing one together for next weekend (gulp!) and I got some cool ideas from you. Thanks a bunch!!
