I am addicted to Pinterest (aren't we all?) and I have been working my way through different pins on my boards. Some with great results...others, not so much. So here is a new series called PIN TESTS where I try out a pin and let you know how it worked for me!

NO BEND FOAM WREATHS
★☆☆
I like to save money so I was excited when I saw this pin on creating your own wreaths using plumbers pipe (original tutorial found here).
I went right to Lowe's and grabbed two lengths of it. I tried. And tried. And tried. But in the end it was an epic fail. My wreaths were still bent and awkward looking. I ended up throwing them all away and saving my money for a store bought wreath form!
I gave it one star because I think you could make this work if you don't mind having a very large and skinny wreath.
Have YOU tried this pin? Did it work for you?
I wonder if it would work better if you cut almond slits in the inside of the circle to help it bend more fluidly. I also pinned this and was planning on trying it - so thank you for trying it for me!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who successfully does this all the time. I'll have to ask her the secret and then share.
ReplyDeleteI did it but with very thin tubing. I actually stood in the aisle at the hardware store and tried making circles. The only thing I can think of trying is wrapping duct tape tightly around where the creases are to give it some strength. I like the look of the thicker ones too so let us know if you figure something out.
ReplyDeleteSo excited for this new series! I haven't tried any of the craft things yet from Pinterest, mostly just food, but there have definitely been some epic fails and some great winners.
ReplyDeleteClever. I can't wait to read more.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea. You could have an entire blog on pin tests. Can you do the one about refilling a Swiffer bottle?
ReplyDeleteI have done this. I cut my length in 1/2 and it worked. But I am planning on using it for a mobile not a wreath. I made sure the slit in the foam was on the inside, if that helps...
ReplyDeleteuh ... right ...
ReplyDeleteI learned a while back that if it didn't work for you, I don't even try it ...
I'm smart like that ;-)
